As part of its ongoing research into extreme meteorological and climatic phenomena, the Meteorology and Climatology Department at CEAM has launched the new “Mediterranean Monitoring System” (MEDMOS), a website for monitoring and tracking the Mediterranean state.
MEDMOS focuses on the monitoring and study of the Mediterranean Sea, initially concentrating on its sea surface temperature (SST) and marine heatwaves (MHW), but with the gradual inclusion of other relevant parameters such as heat content and sea level. In addition to daily monitoring of SST and MHW, it also provides historical data that may be of interest to researchers in Mediterranean oceanography and meteorology, as well as to public policy-makers and the general public.
Furthermore, over the coming months, MEDMOS will publish seasonal reports on the state of the Mediterranean, resuming the previous practice of publishing these reports.
MEDMOS can be accessed at https://medmos.eu/
